How To Sell Your Business Online

November 3, 2018 We Buy Any Websites 0

If you’ve stumbled across this blog, you’re most likely looking to sell your business online, right?

Just to clear up, when we say ‘business’, we mean an online-based business. For example: an affiliate website, an Amazon FBA business, perhaps a dropship website, an app or online game and the list goes on. This isn’t a guide on how to sell a property development company or a chain of restaurants.

Today we’re going to discuss and weigh up the pros and cons of three of the most popular platforms to sell your business on.

So, without further ado, let’s get to it…

Sell Your Business - AZ Websites for Sale

1. AZ Websites for Sale

This platform is one of the ‘originals’. It’s been around for years and has successfully sold more websites and domains than you’ve eaten meals. Seriously, they’ve sold a lot. This is mostly due to one major advantage over other platforms – it’s 100% FREE of charge to sell your website business. That’s right, they don’t take any commission or upfront payment whatsoever. Due to this, though, you can’t expect them to do any due diligence and qualify potential buyers / sellers – this has to be done by yourself.

Positives:

– Proven and been around for years
– 100% free of charge
– Sells both websites and domains

Negatives:

– No due diligence done

Price:

– FREE

How To Sell Your Business Online - Empire Flippers

2. Empire Flippers

Empire Flippers has also been around for a few years. During their life they’ve definitely proven themselves as one of the best platforms to sell an online business on. This is the most expensive platform on our list but with good reason – they look into websites, buyers and sellers with great detail to make sure nothing goes wrong with the sale.

Positives:

– Detailed due diligence on buyers, sellers and websites
– Intuitive, easy to navigate website

Negatives:

– High fees

Price:

– $297 listing fee plus 8% – 15% commission depending on the price of the website

3. Flippa

This platform is slightly different to the other two in which websites are listed for sale in an auction-style. Sellers can set reserves and buy-it-now prices but the main focus is selling your website to the highest bidder. Think eBay but selling websites rather than, well, everything else. Flippa’s an Australian platform with slightly lower fees than Empire Flippers, but doesn’t do any due diligence on websites, buyers and sellers.

Positives:

– Buyers and sellers can communicate directly via the platform
– Sells both websites and domains

Negatives:

– No due diligence done
– Reports of numerous people being scammed by dishonest buyers / sellers

Price:

– $25 listing fee plus 10% commission

There you have it! Three different platforms each with their own pros and cons.

In our opinion, AZ Websites for Sale takes the lead as it’s 100% free of charge – so, for example, if you sell a website for $200,000 you’ll save between $20,025 to $30,297 over selling via the other two platforms. However, if you’re less experienced or are unable to do due diligence on potential purchasers, Empire Flippers may be your best bet. It’s entirely down to your own personal wants and needs.
